Measuring Peat Thickness With GPR

Large areas of Ireland are covered by peat land.

For developments like roads, railways, solar farms, telecom masts, buildings and cable or pipeline routes the peat thickness needs to be determined.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a fast and reliable way to determine the peat thickness and depth.

This geophysical method can be used on all terrains and landscapes.

By using GPR imaging to better understand the landscape, consulting engineers and developers can optimize their planning and design to work more cost-effectively – and to reduce the disturbance of peat.
